Heffley Hosting Family Resources and Addiction Prevention Expo on Wednesday

October 13, 2026

WEISSPORT - Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) is inviting area residents to join him at his annual Family Resources and Addiction Prevention Expo, which provides families with information on prevention and recovery resources along with access to a variety of family services.

The expo, which has been held every year for more than a decade, will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 5-7:30 p.m. at the Carbon Career and Technical Institute, 150 W. 13th St., Jim Thorpe.

“I’m proud to host this expo in conjunction with Carbon Career and Technical Institute’s Open House and bring these resources together in one place to help connect families with the support they need,” Heffley said.

Family resources available at the event will include information from the Domestic Violence Service Center; the Shine program from Lehigh Carbon Community College; Penn State Extension’s Master Gardeners and Food, Families and Communities unit; Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors; St. Luke’s University Hospital; and Lehigh Valley Hospital Network.

The event will also feature impaired and distracted driving simulators from the Leigh Valley Hospital Network, as well as a mock bedroom designed to help parents recognize potential hiding places for drugs and related paraphernalia, which is sponsored by Carbon-Monroe Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission.
