Heffley Announces $300,000 for an Affordable Housing Project for Seniors
June 12, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) announced $300,000 has been secured for an affordable housing project for seniors in Carbon County.
Holy Family Senior Living will receive grant money for the St. Ann’s Façade Repair Project. The project includes repairs at the St. Ann’s Senior Apartments, such as fixing the façade to address crumbling masonry, water leaks and worn-out support beams that put residents at risk. The project will preserve 17 affordable senior units.
“I am always looking for ways to keep housing affordable for seniors,” Heffley said. “This funding will help work towards that.”
The money will be distributed through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement (PHARE) fund.
Funding for PHARE awards comes from two main sources. Since 2012, the program has received a portion of the impact fees collected from natural gas companies operating in the state. That is supplemented with funding provided by a portion of the state’s realty transfer tax.
