Heffley Offers Affordability Response Following Davis’ Visit to Carbon County
April 29, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) offered the following statement after Lt. Gov. Austin Davis’ press event today in Carbon County where he talked about affordability:
“I appreciate Lt. Gov. Austin Davis recognizing the financial challenges facing Pennsylvanians. These challenges are real, and they demand serious attention.
“Affordability is a major concern for families across the Commonwealth, including right here in Carbon County, where residents continue to feel the strain.
“If the administration was serious about addressing the rising costs families face, it would focus on bringing energy prices down.
“Pennsylvania is one of the largest energy producers in the country, yet the governor and lieutenant governor have failed to adopt policies that increase supply. As a result, much of the energy we produce goes to neighboring states, and Pennsylvanians are penalized by essentially subsidizing energy costs for residents in New Jersey, Maryland and surrounding states.
“If we want to talk about affordability in housing, the crisis in our Commonwealth is not caused by policies in Washington. It is caused by decisions made here in Pennsylvania.
“Just last week, I brought up a piece of legislation that would reduce some of the costs burdening homeowners, but it was unsuccessful in the House, which is controlled by Democrats.
“I am happy to have a conversation with the administration on practical steps we can take to reduce costs for all Pennsylvania families.”
