Nearly $30,000 Given to Fire Departments in Carbon County, Heffley, Argall Announce

February 25, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-Carbon/Schuylkill/Luzerne) announced funding has been secured for a pair of fire departments in Carbon County.

The departments receiving funding are:
• Lehighton Fire Department - $14,933.
• Palmerton Municipal Fire Company - $15,000.

The money comes through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and is supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.

The funding allows for the purchase of critical wildfire suppression equipment, protective gear, communications tools and training.

“Fire departments like these are essential when it comes to keeping the residents of Carbon County safe,” Heffley said. “I’m grateful for this funding and pleased to see these departments receive support to continue to respond to emergencies.”

“I’m thankful these local fire companies were awarded these highly competitive funds,” Argall said. “These grants are well-deserved and will help our brave first responders with their critically important and dangerous jobs.”

The departments were given funding through a cost-share grant program that provides up to $15,000 to rural fire companies serving municipalities with less than 10,000 residents.
