Senior Expo Co-Hosted by Heffley, Yudichak to Return Sept. 1

August 12, 2021

LEHIGHTON – After canceling last year due to the pandemic, Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) and Sen. John Yudichak (D-Luzerne/Carbon) are once again co-hosting their Senior Citizens Expo on Wednesday, Sept. 1, in Lehighton.

The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Co., 2440 Fairyland Road. A free lunch will also be served.

“After putting the expo on hold in 2020 because of COVID-19, my staff and I are excited to be able to welcome friends and neighbors to this year’s event,” said Heffley. “Our expos are always well attended, and we expect this one to be no different as seniors and their caregivers join us to learn about the various programs and services available to them in our area.”

The expo will feature dozens of exhibitors from the Carbon County area. In addition, a prescription drug drop-off box will be on-site for seniors to dispose of their unwanted or expired medications.

“We’re happy to welcome back Carbon County seniors to our expo, which offers information on many programs and services available to older Pennsylvanians,” Yudichak said. “This event always serves as an excellent opportunity for seniors to speak directly to representatives from local, state and federal legislators and agencies as well. After a year hiatus from the event, I am looking forward to visiting with many of the great senior citizens of Carbon County.”

The legislators will also be collecting non-perishable food items during the expo to donate to a local food bank and ask everyone who attends to consider bringing a donation.
