Special Olympians from Carbon County Recognized by PA House of Representatives, Says Heffley

HARRISBURG – At the state Capitol on Monday, Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) hosted two Special Olympic athletes from Carbon County who won gold medals in international competitions last month. Delina Jo Rodrigues of Palmerton took first place in two powerlifting events at the 2019 Special Olympic World Games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Matthew Anthony of Palmerton, and his father, Christopher, were winners of the Unified Bowling Doubles event at the Special Olympics North America Bowling Competition in Las Vegas.

The athletes, who were introduced in the House chamber by Heffley, were recognized for their outstanding achievements by House members. Pictured from left to right are House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny), Rodrigues, Matthew Anthony, Christopher Anthony and Heffley.
